Elise Chatelain, PhD
Co-Founder
Elise is an educator, writer, and editor with 25+ years in academia, hospitality, and communications. While most of her teaching career has been in university classrooms, she also has worked in K-12 education as a private tutor and homeschool teacher.
Her professional life has taken her in some unconventional directions, from operating a bar and restaurant in New Orleans to writing marketing copy for a popular YouTube channel. She also is a certified yoga teacher and brings the same principles of mindfulness and empathetic instruction to her academic and scholarly work.
Today, in addition to running Dismantle projects with Sara, Elise teaches research and writing skills to graduate students and works as a freelance developmental editor.

Stacey Parshall Jensen
Workshop Facilitator and Research Consultant
Stacey is a Mixed-Blood, Mandan and Hidatsa, and Black screenwriter, an award-winning filmmaker, and a Sensitivity Reader-Diversity Editor-Cultural Consultant. She lives in Minneapolis and Los Angeles depending on the snowfall.
She’s a very proud and giddy mom, nana, auntie, niece, sister, and friend. She writes film and TV crime suspense thrillers with Mixed-Blood or Indigenous women leads who kick ass. Her stories are about race, oppression, women, families, love and hope.
When not binging an international crime series, you can find her dancing and air-jammin to 70’s and 80’s tunes in her office. Or in her car.
Stacey believes her consulting service is how she gives back, using her talent, expertise and lived experiences to help others. Her goal is to be a respectful and authentic storyteller.

Justin Thomas
Business Manager
Justin has over 30 years of business operations, executive chef, and event planning experience. A native New Yorker, he spent his early career in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry before moving to New Orleans and opening his own bar and restaurant. For Dismantle, he brings his “do-it–all” skill set to develop and manage business opportunities, as well as to support projects where needed.
It’s hard to fully capture everything Justin brings to the Dismantle team. He runs payroll and does bookkeeping while also constantly searching for our next business opportunity. For the oral history project we completed with the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, he served as a key informant as well as our videographer, photographer, and sound guy. Justin’s project management skills ensure our work is always delivered on time and at the highest quality.
